As we started to look for places to play we found Scott Zerkle. Coach Scott took my kids from not being able to even skate to hockey players. He is always focused on the details and building confidence in his players in a fun and challenging environment. Not only did my two sons confidence build on ice it also transferred off-ice as well. My wife and I trust that Scott always has the best interest in our kids every time they are on the ice with him. His talent is hard to come by. To watch him demonstrate is amazing. My boys love the sport of hockey and without Coach Scott they would not have found out what it is to be a player. My kids always look forward to coming to the ice to compete and practice with Scott, and they continuously improve their skills. We introduced hockey to our boys currently ages 10 and 8 when they were only a few years old. They liked watching the sport and when we heard about the the hockey program in Daytona they were both very excited about the opportunity to play. The only problem with the idea was that neither had skated before. As it turns out, that is a requirement to play ice hockey. We were extremely fortunate to find that Scott Zerkle was the head coach in Daytona(VYHA) and through his coaching and guidance our boys advanced from a novice level to a travel hockey level in just over a year and a half. As a parent, I relish the enjoyment that they receive from the game and I thank Scott for getting them to that level by providing an environment that pushes them physically, allows them to mature physically and mentally and to do it all with smiles on their faces. My son Nick just starting skating a year ago and after working with Coach Scott during private lessons as well as at the Dare2Dangle summer camp, his skating skills and stick handling are night and day. The improvement is amazing. The real issue we all face is how to make sure our kids continue to learn without pushing them to hard and burning them out. With Coach Scott I really don't worry about that because he makes it fun and for me that's all that matters.  |
